Lot description - from the online catalogue*

George Arluk, born 1949

Arviat/Rankin Inlet/Baker Lake

Composition: walrus, bear and human, ca. mid-late 1970s, black stone and ivory, signed "ArLook", 8.125 x 8.75 x 6.5 in, 20.7 x 22.2 x 16.5 cm

A significant example of George Arlook's early mature style. By his mid-twenties Arluk had been an artist for well over half his life. He was working on a somewhat larger scale and had begun incorporating ivory and antler into his compositions. These would eventually lead him to experiments with ever larger and more complex compositions. This work may have been carved during Arluk's time in Baker Lake.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
