Intricate frame professionally restored by conservationist Alena Macalasdair, Moncton, NB.
Frédérick Charles Vipont Ede (Canadian, 1865-1943) spent his early life in Canada, and later studied with Tony Robert-Fleury and William Adolphe Bouguereau in France. Ede settled in Paris and established most of his career in France, but also received professional recognition for his work in the United States and Canada. Common themes in Ede’s work include the farmlands, valleys, forests and canals of the Paris environs.
