Notes:
SKNAC bio: Frederick R. McDonald was born in 1957 at the Fort McKay First Nation, near Fort McMurray, Alberta. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a BFA in 1995 and an MFA in 2002. As a young artist McDonald was influenced by Ojibwa artist Arthur Shilling and the Mexican muralists of the mid 20th Century, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Jose Clemente Orozco. Frederik McDonald continues to live and work at the Fort McKay First Nation.
