Freddy Theys was born in 1937 in Antwerp, Belgium. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp) specializing in life drawing and in engraving. He is a member of the Royal Association of Professional Artists of Belgium and is a Companion of Merit of the European Artistic Organisation. Theys lives and works in Belgium, but visits England and Scotland each year for inspiration. His work can be found in many public collections including the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, National Portrait Gallery (London), City of Antwerp Portrait Gallery and Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.
