Fred Anderson Jr. was born in 1966 in Rivers Inlet, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He is of the Heilstuk and Haisla First Nations. From early childhood, traditional indigenous art was an integral part of his life, and he apprenticed with renowned Kwakiutl artist Ross Hunt. Fred Anderson lives in Bella Bella, British Columbia.
