Eric Pehap was born in Viljandi, Estonia in 1912. He studied ceramics and graphics at the State School of Arts and Crafts in Tallinn, Estonia from 1931 to 1933 and at the "Pallas" College of Fine Arts in Tartu, where he received degrees in Painting and Graphic Arts. He was forced into exile during World War II, first to Finland and Sweden and eventually to Canada in 1949. In 1952 he graduated from the Montreal Institute of design. Pehap was a world-famous print-maker and painter. Cityscapes and figural works were common themes through his life. His works are represented in the many museums in Estonia and also are held in private collections in Canada and Europe. Eric Hehap exhibited widely in Canada, as well as in the U.S and many European countries.
