Lot description - from the online catalogue*

This would appear to be a posthumous portrait of James Wolfe, who died at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759. The face bears some resemblance to a portrait of Wolfe held in the Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa. The Archives portrait is attributed to Joseph Highmore and is thought to have been painted from life. It dates from around 1749. The Highmore portrait shows the sitter wearing the uniform of the 20th.Regiment of Foot. Another version is held in the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
