Emily Illuitok is probably best known as a prolific carver of ivory miniatures, an activity she took up in 1968. In 1989 she began experimenting with sculptural assemblage - the piecing together of various materials - influenced by the highly talented artist Nick Sikkuark, who had just returned to Kugaaruk after living in Gjoa Haven for several years. To create this delightful work Illuitok relied less on actual carving and more on the inspired re-imagination and reconfiguration of organic materials.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
