Lot description - from the online catalogue*

"Eyeetsiak Peter has been making art since he was a teenager and is credited as a print maker in the 1961 Cape Dorset print release. In 1970, he received first prize for his sculpture Taloolayook and Man and the Northwest Territories Centennial Sculpture Competition (the piece was presented to HRH Queen Elizabeth II). His sculpture from the early 60's already had the fluidity of line and use of cutaway that are now characteristic of his work. He was part of the the 1980 The Inuit Sea Goddess touring exhibition originated by the Musee des beaux-arts de Montreal and his work is exhibited nationally and internationally."
