Notes:
Edmond Xavier Kapp was born in London, England, in 1890. Although he studied languages at Cambridge University, he soon focused on his art making, specializing in portraiture, and had his first solo exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1912. After studying briefly in Paris and at Berlin University following the First World War, Kapps reputation and exposure grew steadily, and we won many prestigious commissions and was widely exhibited and published. His work is held in many important collections, including UNESCO, Victoria and Albert Museum (London) and the National Portrait Gallery (London). Edmond Xavier Kapp died in 1978.
