Notes:
David Julijovyc Bekker was born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1940 from a family of German settlers and his father was executed in a Stalinist purge just before David Bekker's birth. From 1955 to 1960 David Bekker attended art school in Odessa and from 1960 to 1966 the arts and crafts institute in Kharkov, Ukraine. In 1968 he created his first linocut bookplate and from then on he worked extensively in printmaking. In 1970 Bekker was accpeted into the Union of Artist of the USSR and in 1991 he became a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Bekker's works can be found in many public collections including the Pushkin Museum (Moscow), the Ex Libris Centre (Belgium) and the Book Museum (Netherlands).
