DAVID IKUTAAQ (1929-1984)
BAKER LAKE, Woman and Children, ca. mid-1970s
Black stone, 9.375 x 6 x 5.875 in, 23.8 x 15.2 x 14.9cm Signed in syllabics
A fine example by Ikutaaq from the "classic" phase of Baker Lake stone sculpture in the early-mid 1970s; the composition is compact and bulky, characterized by the beautifully swelling forms of the mother's clothing, yet surprisingly light on its feet.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
