Caroline Helena Armington was born in 1875 in Brampton, Ontario. She studied with portrait artist J.W.L. Forster. In 1900 she travelled to Europe and there married artist Frank Armington. They returned to Canada from 1901 but moved to Paris in 1905 to study at the Academy de la Grande Chaumiere and the Academie Julian. From 1914 to 1918 Caroline Armington worked as a nurse in the American Ambulance Hospital in Paris. Armington specialized in printmaking, and her etching can be found in many important collection, including the British Museum, New York Public Library, National Gallery of Canada, National Gallery of Art (Washington), the Musee de Petit Palais (Paris) and the Glenbow Museum (Calgary). Caroline Armington died in 1939 in New York.
