Includes a copy of 1984 receipt from Craddock and Barnard (London UK). From the Gary Robertson Historical Print Collection (Regina). This piece is also in the collection of the British Museum (London) and Vatican Libr
Notes:
Carl Marcus Tuscher was born in 1705 in Nuremberg, Germany, of Dutch ancestry. He apprenticed with John Daniel Preisler, director of the Nuremberg Academy of Arts, then received a scholarship to study architecture, painting and printmaking in Rome. There he also worked to organize the vast collection of the Baron Philipp von Stosch, who was also a British spy, and Tuscher went with von Stosch when he was forced to flee. Tuscher then spent time in Florence, France and England before settling in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1743. There he was recognized as an important architect and portraitist. Marcus Tuscher died in Copenhagen in 1751.
