Lot description - from the online catalogue*

Provenance:
Private Collection, Ontario
Notes:
Brandon Herman is a contemporary Canadian artist known for his evocative photography that explores themes of identity, memory, and the complexities of human experience. His work often delves into the psychological intricacies of personal and collective narratives, capturing moments that invite introspection and dialogue. Herman's approach combines meticulous planning with a deep engagement with his subjects, resulting in images that are both haunting and thought-provoking. Deeply influenced by film, Brandon Herman’s work functions as a projection of his personal fantasies, brought to life through his models. This unresolved tension gives his work its striking energy.

Herman's photography has appeared in publications such as Dazed and Confused and V Magazine, Artforum, Vice, and Flaunt and has been exhibited in venues in Palm Beach and Nolita. He holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and is based in New York City.

Consignor proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, with significant donations also being made to the Canadian Opera Company, the Glenbow Museum, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Pelee Island Bird Observatory.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
