Robert Pitzel was born in 1948 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He studied fine art and graphic art at the Alberta College of Art and Design (Calgary). In 1971 Pitzel returned to Humboldt and started a graphic design firm, while also developing his skills as a watercolorist. For his personal work, Pitzel has always focused on rural life and the prairie landscape. He has exhibited widely across Saskatchewan and beyond, including at Galerie l'Equivoque (Wakefield QC), Mackenzie Art Gallery (Regina) and Frances Morrison Gallery (Saskatoon). Robert Pitzel continues to live and work in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
