Lot description - from the online catalogue*

Provenance:
Acquired directly from the Artist by the present Private Collection, Montreal
Notes:
"I work with nature as an equal partner…That's still the strongest thing I deal with today, that primal connection of man to earth. It's in the materials I use, the environments I make and the way I work." - Boaz Vaadia

Scouring the streets of New York City to collect bluestone, slates and boulders, Vaadia later chisels layers out of the stone and stacks them to create the humanoid forms for which he is best known. His figurative style developed from a longing to reconnect with the natural world while living in a concrete city. The figure in Ge'u'el is leaning gently on a boulder and seated in a position of repose, echoing the sculptures of ancient Egypt or the statues of Buddha.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
