Bernard Morisset was born in 1924. He graduated from Laval University then from the Montreal Furniture School in 1946. Morisset was a student and friend of Paul-Emile Borduas and a colleague of Jean-Paul Riopelle and Marcel Barbeau. Between 1944 and 1946 Morisset held nine exhibitions bringing together several contemporary painters who would become known as the 'Automatists'. He was a member of the Contemporary Art Society and the Society of Professional Artists of Quebec. Bernard Morisset passed away in 2009.
