Notes:
Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928, in Paris. He was a French painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Temoin. He studied art at the Ecole Nationale superieure des Beaux-Arts and worked in the studio of the painter Eugene Narbonne. Buffet's was a bleak vision of the world that captured the mood of post-war alienation that gripped France after World War II. He documented life in a cubist style, using thick black strokes with contrasts of meager greens and blues. His work is widely collected and can be found in the collections of both the Tate and the Pompidou Centre in Paris and many other collections. Buffet died on October 4, 1999, in Tourtour, France.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
