ARTIST STATEMENT
I am student currently studying at Alberta College of Art and Design, working as an oil painter and mixed media artist. I love to work with color, texture and strong brushwork in my pieces. I find color and especially brushwork the strongest way for me to express the emotion and ideas in my pieces.
The piece. These bright lights will burst you into flames, is about color and the brilliance and nuances of light. I worked with extensively with palette and different brushwork to create the piece. I choose to combine many different style of brushwork to highlight more energetic areas and create subtlety in others. Working with layers of color and mixing to create the tone and intensity of the ball of light which is the main focus of the piece. My piece is about the intensity of light and color as it hits the eye, influenced by the way light flickers off a reflective surface.
