ARTIST STATEMENT
As one facet of my art practice, I am very interested in Post Modern Abstract Expressionism. When I am working on a painting, it is my ultimate goal to create a painting that shows my gestural movements on a two dimensional surface. It is my desire to express lines and plane fields that contain energy and vibrancy. In order to create a charged emotional image that stimulates the viewer and brings positivity into their experience with my work, I focus on specific color palettes and composition. Expressionist gestures in this piece help to create a feeling of movement that I feel helps to stimulate movement. It was also my intention to have a contrasting aesthetic to a clean wall setting. This helps to ground and bring a comfortable feeling into a modern environment.
