Notes:
Andrew Valko was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1957. Came to Canada in 1968. He received his Diploma in Graphic Design and Applied Arts from the Red River Community College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also studied printmaking with Toshi Yoshida at Yoshida Hanga Academy in Tokyo, Japan. Robert Enright has written "Almost without exception, his paintings and drawings are episodes in an ongoing fragmentary narrative in which we are obliged, as viewers, to fill in the details of a story that he only hints at. Valko knows that viewer and voyeur are close in meaning." He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows throughout Canada. His work is held in many private and public collections across Canada and the U.S. Valko has travelled extensively through North America, Mexico, Europe and Asia and currently lives and works in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, B.C.
