Alexander Calder is an American sculptor best known for his mobile constructions. He also created paintings and prints, jewelry designs, tapestries and rugs, and political posters. Calder's work is avidly collected world-wide and is found in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Modern Art (New York), the National Gallery (Washington, DC) and Centre George Pompidou (Paris) to name but a few.
