Alan Wood was born in 1935 in Widnes, in Lancashire, England. He studied at Liverpool College of Art. He was a teacher at the Cardiff College of Art in Wales for six years before moving to Canada in 1971. His works explore the interplay of light and colour often depicting the natural environment through abstraction. He works with constructions of wood, canvas and paint around 'Ranch', rock and waterfall themes. He participated in many group and solo exhibitions in Great Britain, Europe, Canada, the United States and Australia. Wood was a member of The Royal Canadian Academy.
