Notes:
Alain Flamand was born and raised in Quebec City, and at an early age took up the time-honoured Quebec tradition of wood carving. His sculptures are made in the direct carving technique and often depict folklore scenes, people he knows or memories from his childhood. In 1981 Flamand established his studio and shop in the Quebec City arts district Quartier Petit Champlain, and he continues to create there while also training the next generation of Quebec wood carvers.
