Provenance:
From the Briercrest College Art Collection. 100% of the hammer price goes to the Briercrest College Scholarship Fund. This artwork has a 1998 certificate of appraisal with a fair market evaluation of $900.
Notes:
Akira Yoshikawa was born in Hiroshima Japan in 1949 and his family emigrated to Canada in 1961. During studies at the Ontario College of Art, from which he graduated in 1974 with a Special Commendation award, he immersed himself in Conceptual and Minimalist art, which continues to influence him to this day. Yoshikawa has exhibited his work in many solo and group shows. Many public galleries, universities, and corporations, including Queen's University, the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, include Yoshikawa's artworks. He also has been awarded several grants from the Ontario and Canada Arts Councils.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
