ARTIST STATEMENT

The Piece was made after I had mad the decision to reconnect with my food in very personal way. I wanted to express the window to the sole of an animal that is simple and complex in many ways. We must respect what it is that nourishes us and there for honer them in a way. The goat is also a symbol. For many it represents something dark but what is more important is that it is a symbol that represents good life and health and being tied to the land in an intimate way. The medium was charcoal and erasers. A layer was established and then the image was dug out of the flat blackness using the eraser to remove medium from the surface of the work . the goat was then worked and rework adding layers to the piece. It was then covered up again and refound using the same technique. This process happened 30 or 40 times until the image was both accurate to the goats anatomy and still abstracted as to what was visible in the work. Finally a layer of white chalk to focus the highlights was added.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
