Notes:
Adad Hannah's theatrical, living photographs - also known as "tableaux vivantes" - lie at the intersection of performance, choreography, and fine art. Hannah video-records reconstructed, staged models of famous art historical works, such as The Raft of Medusa and Las Meninas, and of family photographs taken before his birth. He calls attention to the construction of meaning in these images and historical artefacts and the historic associations between the various visual media. Hannah believes "Our experiences are valid tools to be brought to the work of art in the present moment. That's not to say it's not interesting to learn what went into making a historical work, but when we go to a museum and there's a panel on the wall that tell you what the piece is about, that suggests you need to stop there and not create your own meaning in relation to the work. Meaning is arrived at through negotiation."
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
