Notes:
A. Y. Jackson was a Canadian painter and a founding member of the Group of Seven. He held his first single artist exhibition at the Montreal Art Gallery in 1913. With the outbreak of World War I, Jackson enlisted in the Canadian armed forces. Soon after he reached the front he was wounded at the Battle of Sanctuary Wood in June 1916. While recovering from his injuries, he came to the attention of Lord Beaverbrook and was then transferred to the Canadian War Records branch as an artist. In 1919, Jackson and six painter colleagues formed the Group of Seven. These artists were considered to be bold, because the Canadian wilderness had previously been considered too rugged and wild to be painted. In 1967 Jackson was appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada and in 1970 the Royal Canadian Academy awarded Jackson its medal for lifetime achievement.
Most realised prices include the Buyer's Premium of 18-25%, but not the HST/GST Tax.
