Wenceslaus Hollar was born in 1607 in Prague, Czech Republic. He was an important etcher of portraits, architecture and landscapes, of his own drawings but also of other artists. He worked mainly in Germany before emigrating to England in 1636. He was exiled in Antwerp for eight years during the Cromwell Republic. He died in 1677 in London.
