Wayne Manns was born in 1955 in New Jersey but presently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana. He creates his frames by repurposing found materials, such as windows, door frames and shutters that he finds in his travels, often pieces left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. "Most artists will frame their work afterwards - I start with the frame first," Manns said. "I try to tell stories with my painting, stories about black folk who were just ordinary, extraordinary people who go about their living and go about their life."
