After many years raising her family on a farm near Elrose, Saskatchewan, Vivian Wickwire moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, in 2004 and to Calgary in 2011. Wickware began her project "Beacons of the Prairie" in 1995, eventually creating watercolour paintings of over 200 grain elevators in small towns across Saskatchewan and Alberta. The project was exhibited at the Cultural Centre Gallery, in Medicine Hat, in 2009, and was published as a book in 2006, 'Elevators of Saskatchewan: An Anthology in Water Color'.
