Vic Wilson was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, where is grade two teacher was the painter Ruth Pawson, and his high school art teacher was McGregor Hone. After high school Wilson attended the Alberta College of Art and obtained a General Art diploma. He received scholarships to attend Emma Lake Art School where he studied under Roy Kiyooka and Ken Lochhead, and later received his Bachelor of Education degree from Regina Teacher's College. His teaching career was at Balfour Collegiate where he became Head of the Art Department. Wilson was a member and executive of the Federation of Canadian Artists and member of Art 10 in Nanaimo. He passed away in Nanaimo, BC in December 2006.
