Souren Kassabian was a Canadian painter of Armenian origin, who was born in Alexandria, Egypt. After studying at classical art academies in Egypt, he opened a studio in Cairo, specializing in portraits and marine scenes. In 1948 he was commissioned to paint a portrait of ex-King Faruk I.
