Simon Brascoupe was born in 1948 in the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabe First Nation in southwest Quebec. He has a BA and MA from State University in Buffalo, New York, and is a Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator as well as a renowned visual artist. His work as CEO of the National Aboriginal Health Organization, and as a Director of Aboriginal Affairs Branch of Environment Canada, aligns with his artistic emphasis on subjects of culture and preserving the environment. Brascoupe has created many public artworks including murals for the Heart Institute (Ottawa), Carleton University (Ottawa) and the City of Gatineau, Quebec. Simon Brascoupe lives and works in Ottawa, Ontario.
