Rosemary James Cross was born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1924. She studied art at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) in the early 1970s, specializing in painting, printmaking and sculpture. She taught briefly at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) before returning to Victoria in 1978. Rosemary James Cross died in Victoria, British Columbia, in 2016.
