Robert-Ralph Carmichael is a Canadian artist best known for his design of the common loon depicted on the Canadian one-dollar coin or 'loonie'. Carmichael was a successful artist who showed his drawings and paintings in dozens of group and solo exhibitions across Canada. His work is found in many collections across Canada, including the Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa), the Government of Ontario (Toronto) and the University of Calgary.
