Peter Lord was a Metis artist of Cree and French Canadian heritage, born and educated in Montreal, Quebec, but he resided in the area of Ottawa, Ontario, for much of his career. Lord was active in the art scene since the 1980s, having exhibitions in Ottawa, Montreal, Spain and Japan. His art can be found in the permanent collections of the City of Ottawa Art Collection and the Imperial Palace (Kyoto, Japan), and has been featured in such publications as Matrix, Something Magazine, Prism International, and Anthos. Lord was also an award winning writer and poet, published in Quarry, Dual, Octopus, and The McGill Daily, and he is author of the book of poems "Front Porch Poems", and co-author (with Michael Harris) of the book 'Yes'. Peter Lord died in Ottawa, Ontario, in August, 2022.
