Pepito Escanlar was born in 1951 in the Philippines, and graduated in 1974 with a BS Architecture degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila. After immigrating to Canada and settling in Regina, Saskatchewan, Escanlar further developed his interest in painting while continuing his 40 year career in architecture. Escanlar's work is influenced by both artist from Canada such as Emily Carr and Lorne Harris as well as Filipino artists like Botong Francisco and Nemiranda. Pepito Escanlar continues to live and work in Regina, Saskatchewan.
