Myra Kukiiyaut was born in 1929 in Baker Lake (Qamani'tuaq) Nunavut. Her first artworks were in textiles and in the 1960s she began experimenting with printmaking. Her prints can be found in nearly every Baker Lake annual print publication from 1971 to 1990. And they are now in the permanent collections of every major Canadian museum or gallery, including the National Gallery of Canada, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and the Remai Modern (Saskatoon). Myra Kukiiyaut died in 2006.
