Michaell Hosaluk was born in 1954, in Invernay, Saskatchewan. Hosaluk's work covers a wide range of objects and materials including functional vessels, furniture and sculptural pieces. His work has been exhibited throughout Canada, Europe, China, Japan, Australia and the United States, and can be found in the permanent collections of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Governor of Jilin Province China, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, Royal Ontario Museum, and the Canadian Museum of History. Hosaluk is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Saskatchewan Crafts Council, and in 2004 was awarded the Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor's Award for Innovation. The Canadian Museum of History says of him, "Michael Hosaluk's idiosyncratic turned-wood objects are recognized throughout the world for their inventive spirit and technical mastery". Michael Hosaluk lives and works near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
