SKNAC bio: Madeleine Arkell was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1947. She started exploring the world of ceramics after moving to Regina in 1973. Eventually Arkell enrolled in the fine arts program at the University of Regina, studying in the ceramics program under Jack Sures, and graduating in 1980. In 1991 she studied at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Arkell's work has been widely exhibited, including at the Rosemont Art Gallery (Regina, 1990), Neutral Ground (1990), Franklin Silverstone Gallery (Montreal) and the 1993 Dimensions traveling art exhibition curated by the Saskatchewan Craft Council. Madeleine Arkell has been a member of the Neutral Ground art collective (Regina) and the Rosemont Art Gallery (now the Art Gallery of Regina) and continues to live in Regina, Saskatchewan.
