Leslie Emile born was in Southern Manitoba in 1954, and lived on a farm until the age of ten and the family moved to Winnipeg. In 1975 Emile began studying photography and art, and in 1980 moved to Vancouver and studied at Langara College and the Burnaby Art Centre. He worked at Artists Gallery and the Federation Gallery, and was a board member of the Central Vancouver Artists Association. His first solo show was at Metro Media, Vancouver.
