Laszlo Buday completed a five year degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in his native Budapest, leaving Hungary during the 1956 uprising. The artist settled briefly in Italy (completing a mural for the Milan Fair), before immigrating to Canada in 1957. Buday worked as a graphic designer in Montreal and Toronto and as art director for Canadian Architect magazine, where he awarded several annual honours for his graphic design work. In 1969, the artist began working with copper, completing detailed and expansive commissions and installations for private and corporate collections in the Toronto area. In 1978, he moved to Florida and established a studio in Lake Park, beginning regular commissions for collections throughout Florida. Laszlo Buday’s is an award winning artist whose work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States. The artist shares his time between homes in Toronto and Florida.
