Janet Getz was born in 1940 in Mawer, Saskatchewan. She farmed near Francis, Saskatchewan for many years, later moving to Spalding and to Fort Qu'Appelle, and eventually to Regina in 2015. She was a self-taught artist, working in drawing, pastel, watercolour and acrylic, and selling her work and accepting commissions from her teens onward. In Regina, Getz was a member of the Regina Federation of Artists. Janet Getz died in 2020 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
