Waddington's Auction House Biography and Notes

Itee began his career carving, taking to drawing professionally in the 1980's. He excelled at portraying the vast and sometimes brutal landscapes of the Arctic. His use of colour and meticulous lines elevated his subjects. Itee drew from photographs, a technique not typically encouraged by the Kinngait Co-op. "The intense demand for Pootoogook's drawings in the final years of his life signaled evolving attitudes towards what art produced in Kinngait could and should be."
