Israel Henriet was born in Nancy, France, in 1590, and was a life-long friend of artist Jacques Callot. Henriet and Callot left France together to study engraving in Florence with Antonio Tempesta. Henriet then moved to Paris and became painting to the King and taught drawing to many in the royal court. Israel Henriet died in 1661 in Paris.
