Born in East Germany, Harry Hamm emigrated with his family to Canada at age seven, settling in Regina, Saskatchewan. He developed an interest in painting along in high school. He began his Bachelor of Fine Arts studies in Regina, and then transferred to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He is active in the Arts scene of Nova Scotia.
