Goyce Kakegamic was born in Sandy Lake, Ontario in 1948. He began painting while still a teenager under the guidance of renowned artist Norval Morrisseau, his brother-in-law. In 1973 he and his brothers opened Triple K Cooperative, a silk-screening operation in Red Lake, Ontario. They played an important role in making the new 'woodlands' art more affordable and more widely available to buyers. His work is represented in the McMichael Collection and in the Mowhawk Institute in Brantford, Ontario and in private collections across Canada.
