Gerald Hall Tyler was born in 1897 in Birmingham, England. He emigrated to Canada with his family in 1907, and he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1927. While working as a banker, he was an avid artist and an art restorer. Tyler exhibited at the Vancouver Art Gallery many times, often within shows with the BC Society of Fine Arts. He was a longtime member of the society, and president from 1943 to 1945. Gerald Hall Tyler died in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1983.
